It depends on your procedure. Orthopedic surgery covers everything from total joint replacement to work on your knees, ankles, feet, shoulders, wrists, hips or spine. In most cases, you’ll be up, moving and starting rehab within hours following the surgery. Before you’re discharged and can go home, you may need some additional assistance and care. If so, your primary physician may recommend a stay at a post-operation facility for a few days to wrap up your post-orthopedic care before you head home.
